★ 4.2 · American · 2 Green Pleasure Pier, Avalon, CA 90704
No-frills burger counter on the Green Pleasure Pier, in the family for 75+ years — the buffalo burger and a breakfast burrito eaten on a pier bench is a genuine Avalon ritual. Cash-friendly, cranky-charming, closes mid-afternoon.
The 6am lifeline of Metropole Marketplace — locals grab espresso and a warm cookie or the bacon breakfast burrito before the first boat unloads. Bakery case (with gluten-free options) sells down by afternoon.
Tucked in the Metropole courtyard, this is the health-forward counter — acai bowls, cold-pressed juice, proper paninis, and the island's best vegan/GF options. Quiet escape from the Crescent Ave crowds.
★ 4.3 · American · 118 Catalina Ave, Avalon, CA 90704
Avalon's classic sit-down breakfast — big omelettes, Belgian waffles and bottomless diner coffee a block off the beach. The summer weekend line moves faster than it looks.
★ 4.4 · American · 615 Crescent Ave, Avalon, CA 90704
The other breakfast institution, at the quiet end of Crescent since 1984 — giant pancakes, thick French toast and omelettes that end your morning plans. Closes at 2pm sharp.
★ 4.2 · New American · 111 Crescent Ave, Avalon, CA 90704
Trendy little bar-kitchen under the Bellanca Hotel with sidewalk high-tops facing the bay — the ahi poke nachos and mini lobster rolls have a real following. Kitchen runs Thu–Mon and stops at 2pm; the bar pours till 6.
★ 4.0 · Italian · 205 Crescent Ave, Avalon, CA 90704
Coastal Italian on the waterfront (the old Villa Portofino space) — pastas, cioppino and a proper wine list, plus weekend breakfast. Takes a winter break each January, back mid-February.
Up Avalon Canyon by the golf course — the daily 2–7pm happy hour ($2 street tacos, $2 drafts, $5 margs) is the best food deal on the island. Worth the ten-minute walk inland.
Coffee and pastries from 7am, house-brewed beer and pizza in the afternoon — Catalina's only microbrewery, turning out one or two barrels a week of genuinely small-batch beer. The patio is prime Crescent Ave people-watching.
★ 4.2 · Bar & Lounge · 708 Crescent Ave, Avalon, CA 90704
Avalon's rooftop — NDMK's sister spot at the far end of Crescent with harbor views, handcrafted cocktails, oysters and tap beers from breakfast through sunset. The view at golden hour is the whole pitch.
