On this page: Chef Burma, Old Soul Co, Giò Chả Đức Hương (Duc Huong Sandwiches), Pushkin's Bakery, Queen Sheba Ethiopian Cuisine, Revolution Winery & Kitchen, Petra Greek, New Kathmandu Kitchen and Old Soul @ 40 Acres.
Sacramento's only Burmese restaurant and one of Midtown's most-loved newer openings — the tea leaf salad and pumpkin curry get name-checked constantly, and the cocktail list punches well above what you'd expect for the category.
★ 4.6 · Cafe · 1716 L St (Rear Alley), Sacramento, CA 95811
Sacramento's homegrown roaster, born in this original alley cafe off L Street — still the local coffee standard-bearer, with pastries and a full breakfast/lunch kitchen alongside the espresso.
Widely considered Sacramento's best banh mi — crackly baguettes baked in-house, stuffed with grilled pork or a genuinely great vegan version. Around six bucks and worth the Stockton Blvd trip.
Sacramento's first fully gluten- and dairy-free bakery, and a Midtown standout even for people who eat gluten. Cupcakes, scones, and sandwiches so good you'd never guess — celiac-safe and genuinely delicious.
★ 4.3 · Ethiopian · 1704 Broadway, Sacramento, CA 95818
Warm, village-styled Ethiopian on Broadway where everything arrives on a shared platter of spongy injera. The veggie combo is a standout and one of the best plant-forward feasts in the city.
★ 4.4 · Wine Bar · 2831 S St, Sacramento, CA 95816
Sacramento's only fully operational urban winery — the wine is made right there on S St — paired with an almost entirely plant-based, seasonal kitchen. Approachable pours, low-key patio, and a genuinely vegan-friendly menu. Closed Mondays.
Fast-casual Greek in the heart of Midtown on 16th — gyros, souvlaki and loaded fries with plenty of vegetarian and vegan builds. Cheap, quick and open late enough to catch the after-bar crowd.
East Sac's go-to for Nepalese-Indian comfort food on J Street: come for momos, thali and a deep bench of vegetarian daal and curries. Warm, low-key, and generous.
★ 4.5 · American · 3434 Broadway, Sacramento, CA 95817
Oak Park's community living room in the old Woodruff Hotel at 35th & Broadway: house-roasted coffee, breakfast, sandwiches and pastries, plus beer, wine and live music. More gathering spot than quick coffee stop.
